Books of the Past

Everyone lives in the present, they have to; there is no choice and the truth is their present is built on their past. So what is it that people tell you to forget or let go. "forget the past lets us start fresh". Is there any such thing? Is there any way we can forget the path we took? I wonder.
Our mind is a large living library where every single event of our life is documented and stored. Like we walk into any library to read a book we can always go to our living library and choose any particular book of the past we want to read. Child hood, games, magic, travel, mystery, horror, adventure, love, friendship you name it's all there, clearly documented in sections. All it takes is a walk though the library and choosing which book to read. The best part is no book ever gets stolen. It can get dusty and fragile but never lost.
To me past is the most beautiful place to be since nothing in this world can take it away from me or change it. No anticipation, no anxiety, no losses, even death cannot erase the memories of those who are gone; from my books of the past. The comfort of the musty smell from the books, the nostalgia that it brings is none less than any intoxicant. But yes choose your book wisely, do not end up reading those horror stories that you have tucked away under heavy books of fun.I can easily settle down with some of my books with a cup of coffee while watching the rain with my fav music playing in the background.
But just remember, don't lock yourself up in these libraries and loose the keys coz there is a beautiful present waiting and a lot more books to write.
