Sketches I Paintings I Sculptures
Solo Exhibition & Workshop
By Priya Jayanand
Perception is my first solo exhibition. The exhibits will include every work done from the year 2016. Painting, Sculpting and Sketches. You will also come across woodwork and many more. This exhibition is dedicated to all the wonderful people who have walked into my life and believed in me more than I did.
My journey with Moonware Creative Expressions started in 2015 in Mumbai, with a small venture of sculpting Christmas collectibles. Later the studio served as my workspace and residence where I continue to learn and practise art. I also started to conduct workshops and classes for those who are interested in learning art and it's very many modalities.
If you ask me where it all started. I would say "My love of sculpture began at the very young age of three. My earliest memories were with my grand uncle who used to let me jump into his bucket of paper mache mix. He gave me my first lessons. But painting, I started recently. Coming from an applied arts background I did not know if I could really practice traditional art. One special day in November 2016 after a long conversation with a friend something changed within me. There was so much joy in my heart that I decided to sketch. Yes ! Just like that, I went to the store got black and white soft pastels and a pastel sketch pad and I started. I started with black and white sketches as I was scared of colours. My use of colour only began in January 2017 when a friend visited me at the studio and asked if I could show him how to sketch and insisted that we did it in colour. And so it all began.
My work is never too abstract. Shapes and forms are pretty much what we see around us in nature. My focus is on all the beautiful things the world has to offer, Nature as a whole and one beautiful emotion- Love. My exhibits of "Nature and Animals" are all photo studies. "Whimsical" is the main theme to my sculpture and it has a lot to do with my childhood as I grew up watching fairytales. "Love" is the emotion I adore the most and the first few creations of my work speak just that.
I hope to see you all at the exhibition and workshops.
